KC with Lor and the Winters

We had so much fun exploring KC with Lor and the Winters, something we have been talking about doing for years. We made it happen at the last possible moment, but I'm so thankful we did!

The Winters picked Lor up on their way to KC from St Louis (we are so happy this worked out!) and we met for dinner and drinks and a swim on Friday evening before turning in for games and movies. The kids picked up immediately where they left off since our last visit and everyone had so much fun together. It was a late but fun night.

We had brunch and did a bit of shopping and swimming on Saturday. Greta was in a cast so couldn't swim the first night but thanks to Lor's quick remedy and thinking, he had a cast cover delivered to the hotel so she could get in on the swimming fun in the afternoon. It was a win all around. On Saturday evening, we watched the KC Royals get destroyed by the Texas Houstons. We love a good MLB game and all that goes with it... food, drinks, snacks, ice cream, the list goes on.

We hit the road early on Sunday to get home for a grad party and so the Winters could get Lor to the airport for his flight to Germany! Wow, what a whirlwind!

Another Break for Greta

Greta breaks another bone AT THE OLIVER'S!! You can't even make this stuff up.

Mag and I were getting ready to go to a party while the kids were play in the other room when I heard the blood curdling screams. (Sister spat gone wrong.) I ran out to see what had happened and saw her finger which was stuck in a goofy position. She was terrified, I nearly fainted.

Maggie drove us to the ER (Dave was on call). They x-rayed her and tried to reduce it but she was just in so much pain that they ended up giving her laughing gas in order to reduce it. She was splinted until a few days later when hand doctor was able to see her. He decided a cast would be the best bet and she was so excited to get to school to get as many signatures as possible. She is such a good sport and really worked hard on learning to eat and write with her left hand. We saw Bill Nye the same week and she had the great idea to get his signature on her cast, how cool is that!?

We are going to require bubble wrap from here on out when we go to the Oliver's house. ;).

Yikes sis.

All better!

The coolest cast.

Spring Soccer for Sully

One of Sully's favorite places is the soccer field. The only difference this year is that he has really connected with his buddies on and off the field making it more fun for all of us. The weather was all over the place, if it wasn't miserably hot, it was rainy, and always windy, so it goes in SD during springtime. Fortunately, Sully didn't let that get him down. We are so thankful for his coach Aaron for being such a great influence and supporter of the boys, until next year!

Sully and Liam match up, they clobbered us!

Coronado with the Creighton Gals

When you make the impossible possible. That's what we did, between 6 moms and countless situations, we pulled off a college gals get-away, and ALL 6 of us made it, the first time in more than 5 years.

We were an efficient bunch with shared notes and lists and a soft itinerary with massages and happy hours and Aperol and conversations and fun and tears and kid interruptions, all the things that come with a get away, but 100000% worth it.

Coronado was a dream location and I'm so thankful I was able to spend a weekend with so many of my favorite people in my favorite place. Until next time!

Hats!

Piper continues her theatrical career with 'Hats!' the Second Grade Musical. She was so brave and even auditioned for a speaking line, which she mastered. Much to my dismay, the musical dates were released after I had committed to a college friends weekend, I was lucky enough to sneak in for a rehearsal, Piper was so excited and surprised to see me there. She did an excellent job during her performance and had am impressive cheering session. Go Pip!

Cinderella...if the Shoe Fits.

Piper made her acting debut and loved every second of it. We had a busy weekend catching all of the performances, it was fun to watch them get better and better each time. We were sad to see it come to and end, and so thankful for the experience, and for all of her adoring fans...wow, so many friends and family came to watch Piper, what a gift! When I asked her her favorite part, she said it was all of it, but then said the best part was delivering the crown to the Cinderella. She definitely wants to do it again in the future, and we can't wait to continue watching her.

Middle School Orientation

Sully and I went to his middle school orientation and oh my gosh he is so grown up. Neither of us really knew what to expect and much to our surprise, there were so many of Sully's friends there, it was great. They all sat and giggled together, until they got split up for the tour, nerves settled in. Sully was quiet and strictly business. Its a massive school compared to where he is now, I'm confident he will do great. He has grown up so much in the last 6 months, he is more social and growing more confident. He says things like "mom, why do you refer to dad as 'daddy,' he is just dad." or "mom, don't call it a 'potty,' its a bathroom." So I guess I need to transition to tween talk and ditch the kid talk ;). He can be as sassy as they come but when push comes to shove, he is still my bud, I love sitting with him at bedtime and talking to him about his tender heart and even though he is growing up physically, his heart is still the same. He melts and reverts back to my little boy, not sure how much longer he will, but I'll take it while he does. I'm so proud of you, Sully.

Ready or not, here he comes!
