Coronado

We found an opportunity to get down to Coronado and took it. The kids and I went a few days before Dave so we could get settled and he could work. We were so excited to have him join us. We had great weather and had a really nice few family days doing all of our favorite things; coffee runs, beach walks at night, the Beach Club for the Friday performer, dinner at Little Frenchie's with their signature croissant dessert, sunset swims, and drinks at The Sun Decker. We added in some new adventures, a Padres vs Dodgers baseball game, and the beach at Ocean Beach + burgers at Hodad's. We're so thankful to be able to go to Coronado and appreciate the chance to go. Until next time!

Cars and camps and fun.

June brought low key fun, a couple of camps (Leif Ericson for Greta, Camp Foster and GOTR camp for Piper, and Driver's Ed for Sully), a new (used) kids car, and lots of pool days. Piper had the best time at sleep away camp and hardly missed us. She is so brave and grown up. We anticipate a busy couple of months ahead, so were thankful for the home time while we had it.

Sully turns 14!

Sully, sweet Sully turned 14. He is kind, funny, has a great group of friends, loves soccer, and pretty much anything that involves athletics and friends. He is tall, his voice is changing, and he is so grown up, which includes plenty of push back, and a little bit of attitude, but he is still tender and kind, and a good person. We are so proud of Sully, he is go with the flow and always willing to remind me to chill when I worry about the small stuff ;). Im so thankful for him.

Munstream Advenuteres: Black Hills + Dave's birthday.

We kicked off the summer with a camping trip to the Black Hills, something we have always wanted to do. We reserved a campsite at Devil's Gulch KOA and hit the road on Dave's birthday. The day and drive was relatively uneventful with an earlier than expected arrival and a smooth parking job. The kids immediately went off to explore the grounds on their scooters, hitting up every general store they could find while Dave and I relaxed with a glass of wine. We celebrated Dave with a so-so dinner, but thankful to be away for a week.

It was a great week, we hiked our favorite Roughlock Falls and a new fun hike called Devil's Bathtub, both in Spearfish Canyon, not to far from eachother, Devil's Bathtub follows a stream, so there are plenty of opportunities to get wet, and even some natural slides. The kids loved it. We also hiked Blake Elk Peak which has a 1,200 ft elevation gain and is 7.1 miles out and back. It was challenging at times, but was fun and extremely rewarding for all of us. We rewarded ourselves with food and drinks at Sylvan Lake Lodge which is near the trailhead. We filled the week with other favorites like Old Time Photos in Keystone, Candyland, an afternoon picnic on the beach at Pactola Lake. One of the highlights was a Hayrack Ride and Chuckwagon Dinner near Blue Bell lodge. We all loved our tour guide and the wisdom he shared, and got a kick out of the live music and group activities at the dinner sight. It was fun for all.

It was a great way to start the summer.

A quick happy hour while the kids explore.
Happy Birthday, Dave! xoxo
