Forty!

I turned 40! But more importantly than that, I turned forty with Maggie. And we celebrated, like really celebrated. We started talking about having a party a couple of years ago when we realized our birthday fell on a Saturday, things quickly started taking shape and growing legs and when you're talking two years, that means lots of legs and hype and ideas which equals fun. We planned early and pretty swiftly, a band, balloons, food, cupcakes, napkins, beer, wine, friends, friends, friends. Dave and Jeff hosted an epic party, although we did all of the planning. Late night idea exchanges, early morning emails, lots of week-of anticipation, it was everything I had hoped for and so much more.

The party was amazing, 200+ friends came to mingle, dance, party, and just to be in on the fun. Per usual, we had a hand full of wild cards creating a bit of extra fun, including many friends from over the years, childhood, high school, college, neighbors, work, gym, family, etc. It was so fun to see each of our groups of friends overlap each other and to see how they were all connected among themselves.

On top of an amazing party, I got to also have an unplanned girls' weekend. I was expecting Leanne and Joe to come from Minneapolis, but much to my surprise, it was actually Leanne and STACY. They pulled off my favorite surprise of the year, and as soon as they arrived, we slipped into best friend mode, eating and drinking and talking and being grateful to be in each other's presence for almost 48 hours straight. I wish I could do it all over again.

My most favorite part of it all was Maggie. I could go on and on about what she brings to my life, but when it comes down to it, she is just the other part of me. She talks me off the ledge when I need it, but she also gets on the ledge with me from time to time so I don't feel like I'm crazy, and then we talk each other off. I can't imagine life without her, her support, her love, her patience, her friendship and everything else about her. Love you, sis. I won life when I was born a twin.

Props to Dave and Jeff for asking minimal questions and helping us throw one heckuva party.
