Munstream.advenutures: Lake Herman State Park

Our Airstream adventures were abbreviated this year due to our extended vacation to Europe, but we still got a few good weekends in. We love to finish off the season at Lake Herman State Park, it is a short drive from Sioux Falls (45 minutes) and has everything we need for a few days of fun. We biked, played a bit of tennis, hiked and even had a friend of Sully's up for a couple of nights which was a fun for all of the kids. They slept in the tent and braved the cold nights with hardly a complaint. We love the family time that camping provides us and hope we can ride this wave for a few more years or more!

Mpls Girls Weekend

We could hardly wait for our annual Minneapolis getaway with Maggie and Anna and we had so much fun. We dipped out of school early to get there in time for the kids to do the MOA rides and have an easy dinner in order to have aaaalllllll day on Saturday to shop our hearts out. This year we ventured out to 50th and France and Uptown for a nice change of scenery, plus the weather was incredible, so it was nice to see the sun. The girls loved to collect as many bags as possible and to walk around with their Starbucks, they are all so cool :). One of the highlights is the hotel room spa, the kids make it so fancy for us, its amazingly heartwarming. I love my shopping memories with my mom and sisters and absolutely love creating these memories with my girls.

Telluride for #14

Dave and I had an awesome week in Telluride, CO for our 14th anniversary celebration. We had originally planned a bigger adventure overseas but felt overwhelmed with the planning after returning from our summer adventure, so picked something stateside where we could hike and unwind. Telluride was slightly challenging to get to, a flight into Durango followed by a 2+ hour drive, but it was so worth it. We spent our mornings hiking (we happened to hit peek autumn colors, mega win), followed by long lunches, and every afternoon by the pool reading, snoozing, talking. Some of our favorite restaurants were The Butcher and the Baker, Siam's Talay Grill for Thai, Wood Ear for whisky and ramen, Brown Dog Pizzeria, and Uno Dos Tres Tacos and Tequila for tacos. We stayed at the Madeline Inn in Mountain Village just over the mountain top from Telluride and loved that the free public transportation option was a gondola. We ventured into Ouray for a day and hiked the city perimeter trail which was strenuous but rewarding. We mostly appreciate the time together to simply get away from the daily grind and the many directions we are pulled. Until next time!

The Runners take on Chicago!

Dave, Sully, and Anna decided to up their running ante and found a 10k in Chicago. After months of low key training, off they went. They made the absolute most of the quick weekend away, pizza at Giordano's, a Cubs vs NY Yankees game, the Bean at Millennium Park, and more! Dave is the best uncle/dad, we're so lucky. 

The race was a highlight and they were so happy to conquer their goals, we will see what they find next!

Minneapolis for Labor Day

We found ourselves with an open Labor Day weekend, and in true Munce form, we had to find something to fill it. After a bit of brainstorming, we opted for a weekend in Minneapolis. 

We arrived on Friday afternoon and stayed downtown, we wandered the shops and ate some great food. On Saturday we connected with my Aunt Patty and met her new puppy Bernice, who the kids adored. She was full of energy and fun and gave everyone loads of giggles. We followed that with a happy hour and Twins game with my bff, Leanne, and her family. The kids sort of line up and get along so well. Someone for everyone, it was an absolute treat, except that the Twins lost miserably 0-13 or something crazy. In spite of that small detail, we had a great time.
