LOR for one whole week!

After Lor's visit in January, we didn't think we would get to see him until May, but much to our surprise, the stars aligned and he came to stay with us for 8 nights for his Spring Break, we cherished every moment.

It truly felt like the old days, the urgency was gone and we just enjoyed each other's company. We had a couple of get togethers with other families who hosted the same year as us as well as a family happy hour.  Otherwise, we simply enjoyed having him as part of the daily grind, he joined me at bootcamp a few different times, ran with Sully, took all three to the mall (he is crazy ;)), we watched so much basketball, the girls helped him grade papers, and he and Greta worked on a graphic design for Greta's up an coming skin care line, Sunny Side Up. We were sad to see him, go, but no one was as sad as Piper, she took it terribly. We do get to see him in early May, so we have that to look forward to.

Thanks for a great week, Lor!

Omaha Overnight

It all started with an innocent group text with a few friends which turned into an Omaha overnight. Mag and I were committed to meeting them for dinner and drinks, although it seemed like every obstacle tried to get in the way. We persisted and made the absolute most of it. We met Sonia, Karla, and Jamie from Des Moines, Lincoln, and Omaha and had a nonstop 14 hours of laughs before coming home. We stayed at this super cool hotel called The Cottonwood in Midtown, not far from many of my old favorite hangs. We arrived, got ready and went directly downtown to a really nice and good dinner at Memoir and then came back to check out the bars around the hotel. We got up and hit the road the following morning. It was so fun and even though it was a brief trip, it was worth it. Next time... Sioux City! ;)

Worth mentioning, the drive down was one of my highlights, but the drive home was easily the lowlight, iykyk. :)

Great Greta Memories

This week was jam packed with Greta fun, from an orchestra concert to book battles, and finally to a Greta date night, we made the most of our middlest child.

Orchestra was the kick off, their concerts are short and sweet and pack a punch, I love how the instructor gets all of the goodness into a 15 minute concert, Greta is growing in her confidence and still loves the violin. Then she had book battles, which a really fun school activity to get the kids reading. Greta's team was called "The Pickles" and they all dressed in some form of green. The competition is similar to March Madness and it was really exciting to see them make it past the first round. They got taken out in the next round, but Greta got all of the questions related to her books correct, so we consider that a win. Finally, we capped off the week with a date night. She chose a Sephora outing followed by dinner at Grill 26. We loved showering her with skin care products (insert eye roll, what is with this obsession??) and attention.

Cheers to you, G!

St Patricks Day fun

It has been years since I properly celebrated St. Patrick's Day, this year was my comeback year, and I hadn't even planned it.

Sully kicked off the celebrations with Anna as they ran in the St Patrick's Day 5k, we followed that up with the parade, lunch downtown, and then drinks at Monks. It was fun for all and I loved being part of the party. Cheers!

Early March

We're looking forward to warmer weather and summer fun, but in the mean time, we are keeping busy with the day to day grind with some fun sprinkled in, catching up with a few photos from the beginning of the month.

she loved the first aid part of the gig.

Birthday Week

Mag and I made the absolute most of our birthday week with dinners and plenty of fun. We made spa reservations and booked a room the evening before a Grand Falls and then made it home by mid morning on our birthday, Dave and I went for lunch at our favorite lunch spot, I got a birthday nap in and the had fajitas for dinner followed by homemade cake and ice cream. 10/10 day. Thanks a million times to Dave and the kids for going above and beyond to make it the most special, and to my sis who simply makes life double the fun. Here's to 44!

Desert Getaway

Dave and I cashed in on a silent auction win and spent a weekend in Tucson, AZ. It was dreamy: picture perfect weather, long hikes, loads of lawn chair time, a spa afternoon, long lunches and slow dinners. One of the highlights was seeing the first lady in her motorcade when we returned from a hike on Saturday morning. It was so cool to see all of the secret service around and to try to figure out how it all worked and who was where, we were star struck. We came home refreshed and happy to see the kids (who had an awesome weekend with Ellie). Until next time!
