MARCH with MAG MAG

Maggie and I had a pretty great March, we kicked it off with a trip to Coronado to see my parents, we had so much fun. We had 4 solid days of undivided adult parent time. What a gift. We shopped, rented bikes, happy houred, saw a show, explored some favorite old spots, beach walked, and relaxed. It went so fast, in fact we modified our original departure from Sunday to Monday (our bday) because we just weren't quite ready to come home. This is where phase two of our trip begins as our flight from Chicago to Sioux Falls was delayed by 13 hours forcing us to overnight in Chicago. We made the absolute most of the snafu, we celebrated in the airport hotel bar with pizza and complimentary desserts and wine and so many people happy to celebrate with us. Turns out we were all in a similar situation with no where else to be and most people are happy to make the most of it. One of my favorite parts was when the entire (ok, maybe not entire, but a lot of the people) sang to us, we followed up the fun with hotel room tiktoks. It is absolutely one for the memory books and I'm glad for every moment.

As if that was enough, Maggie and I found a way to sneak down to Omaha for an overnight to see Heather McMahan, what riot that was. We shopped and had a long dinner before heading to the show which was amazing. We attempted to bump into Heather after the show but she must have had other plans, so we hit the hay, oh well, next time.

Having Maggie around is one of the best things in my life and our adventures just keep getting better. Let's go!

Cooking with the Colombians: a Gathering.

We cohosted a really fun fundraising event with the Slamas and their intern Estiv. Lor and Estiv created a menu of traditional Colombian food and then prepared the food in front of the 30 guests who signed up to come to the event. It was really fun to meet some new families from our school program and the food was fantastic. We had so much fun at the event and love the diversity Lor and Estiv brought to the party.

Well done, guys!

Lor turns 24!

Lor turned 24 and we used it as an excuse to celebrate. We had so much fun, he invited about 15 friends over and we invited a few friends and family. We at pizza and cake and enjoyed the dynamic and diverse bunch of people. The Munce portion the crew turned in relatively early while the twenty somethings stayed up into the wee hours of the morning. More power to them. ;). Happy Birthday Lor!

February fun...Christmas and St. Louis

February brought back the busyness we are used to. We had a full calendar and lots of fun. Lor continues to bring the fun to our home. The kids are constantly enjoying his silliness and pranks (Greticita, Pipercita, and Sullycito... but NOT Lorcita! Adding the -cita to the end of the name makes it a little person, which the kids laugh and giggle about.

We were finally able to host Dave's family for Christmas (in Feb). I found a lot of joy in the prep, as the Christmas chaos was long gone. We had good food, conversation, and family time. It is always such a honor for us. The late stayers are dwindling as more and more babies join the family, we love the way the group grows each year.

I took the kids to St. Louis on a call weekend for Dave. It really was a win/win. He had some quiet time at home to regroup before his long and busy shifts and the kids and I were able to visit the Winters. We had so much fun...the kids immediately melt into their old ways, playing nonstop and taking care of each other. It is such a contrast to our early visits. Now Samantha is old enough to babysit the other kids while Stacy and I run around a little bit. We love having long distance friends, it is truly a gift.

The days are starting to get longer and Spring is on the horizon, were all ready to sit on the patio and enjoy some warmth.

Fam bam get away to Mpls

Dave and I penciled in a weekend get away to Minneapolis and it was just what we needed to get us through the last stretch of winter. It's amazing for how close it is, we just don't seem to make the time for family weekends there.

We took off from school on Friday and arrived just in time to settle and catch a dinner reservation. After dinner the kids swam and then we all crashed hard. Saturday was full of shopping, wandering, MOA rides and family fun. We made it back to the room for a short regroup and then had a dinner reservation followed by more swimming and Annie.

Sunday morning was basically get up and go, with a stop at Trader Joes'. The kids had fun, we had fun, Lor was with the Kimbers, all in all, it was a well rounded weekend. Hopefully our next Mpls trip will come sooner rather than later.

A cold and slow January

Life slowed waaaaay down for us in January following sky high COVID numbers locally and Lor coming down with it himself. We basically cleared our social calendars, while we suffered from some FOMO, it was actually probably the slowdown we needed. Dave and the kids started reading Harry Potter, which they so far all really enjoy. We served the Banquet for Dave's group Christmas party and then we finished it off with a wedding at the very end of the month. Sweet Bella married Andrew. It was our first family wedding in years and it was so much fun.
